A stroller blanket is useful when you want a smaller crochet gift that is lighter than a full square blanket. This version uses simple rows and a repeated color sequence, so the finished blanket feels polished without complicated shaping. The size is approximate and can be adjusted by adding or removing rows.
Supplies
- 700 to 850 yd DK yarn split across ivory, dusty blue, sage, and muted peach
- 4.5 mm crochet hook, or hook needed for gauge
- Yarn needle, stitch markers, scissors
Gauge and finished dimensions
Gauge: 16 hdc and 12 rows = 4 in. Finished size: about 28 by 32 in. Sizing assumption: a small travel or stroller blanket, not a fitted car seat product.
Abbreviations
ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, st = stitch.
Stripe plan
Work 6 rows ivory, 4 rows dusty blue, 4 rows sage, 4 rows ivory, 4 rows peach, then repeat until the blanket measures close to 31 in before the border.
Pattern
- Ch 113.
- Row 1: Hdc in second ch from hook and in each ch across. You have 112 hdc.
- Rows 2 to 94: Ch 1, turn, hdc in each st across. Keep 112 hdc each row and follow the stripe plan.
- Border round 1: With ivory, ch 1, sc evenly around. Place 3 sc in each corner. Work about 112 sc along the top and bottom and 94 sc down each side before corner stitches.
- Border round 2: Sc around again, placing 3 sc in each corner center stitch.
- Fasten off and weave in all ends.
Practical notes
For fewer ends, carry yarn up one side only when the colors are close together, then cover that edge with the border. If the blanket will be gifted, include the yarn label care instructions. Always follow caregiver guidance for blanket use in strollers, carriers, and sleep spaces.
